After completing the James Williamson 75km and thinking that was tough, I then did the 100ker at Tathra, which rendered me dizzy, nauseated, and walking. So I wanted to figure out a way to compare enduros, and thought that the number of starters as a proportion of finishers could be a good indicator. I've completed three of the events below, and I think I agree with the positions of each.
DNS are not included. And though some other races have results up, some only show the times of the finishers (CP2010, Angry Doctor 2007 & 2008), so I can't incliude them.
Feel free to add some more, and I'll edit them into the list.
Name of event : Number of starters : Number of finishers : Proportion that finished
Highland Fling 100km, 2010 : 682 : 587 : 86.0%
Capital Punishment 100km, 2011 : 832 : 697 : 83.7%
Avoca Enduro Champs 93km, 2010 : 277 : 213 : 76.9%
Freedom Marathon, 60km 201? : 95 : 71 : 74.7
James Williamson Challenge 75km : 228 : 170 : 74.5%
The Husky 100km, 2011: 293 : 214 : 73.0%
Angry Doctor 100km, 2009 : 641 : 462 : 72.1%
Capital Punishment 100km, 2010 : 866 : 595 : 68.7%
Tathra Enduro 110km : 74 : 47 : 63.5%

Mark - I've added Avoca. I counted the D2s and the D3s as DNF's as they did not finish the prescribed distance.
Comment by Mark Caldwell on April 1, 2011 at 10:17 Hi Chris,
D2 and D3 marks riders that have taken detours and finished with a different category than they started in.
