Spoke to Alan who was out doing maintenance. The next working bee is on Sunday 22nd. We should all try to be there - we are so lucky to have Alan and Paul, we need to show our appreciation by turning up en masse.

Permalink Reply by Mark J on January 24, 2012 at 14:39 Did many people out for the track work on Sunday? A few of us ran into Alan as he was doing some work out there a weekend or so ago and he mentioned it to us, and we had planned on going but just couldn't get oursleves organised. hopefully another day comes up soon. It's so good to have the old girl back.
I've been a few people out finishing their ride on the Creek Run, and I was wondering if anyone could point in the right direction to get on it. I think I saw something going to the right just after the underpass on the way back to the gate; is this where it begins?
Permalink Reply by KevJ on January 24, 2012 at 15:27 I rode the Sparrow 27km loop last week with a mate who has a bike computer and it only showed 20kms at the end of the loop. We were unsure if we took a shortcut somehow but the trail is so well marked we dont think we did. Besides that, the trails were in awesome condition and great fun to ride.

I'll check it out and see what I can fiddle with ... i suspect I'll need to fork out for a dedicated bike computer as KevJ suggested :) thanks for the rapid replies guys :)
Innaminka said:Hi Michelle,
More probably an issue with the phone - the GPS app will be recording data points at certain intervals. In amongst the tight sniggle this interval is probably not frequent enough so corners get cut off etc. The end result is that you get a shorter recorded distance than the actual distance travelled. Does the app let you set the data recording inteval? If so set it to as short an interval as you can, usually around 1 second.
Michelle George said:how accurate are the marked lengths? I did the East Kowen 25 and the Sparrow 27 km but my iPhone app recorded it as a total of 45.6km rather than the expected 52kms.....

Permalink Reply by Fliss on April 14, 2012 at 17:14 Rode the Sparrow 16k loop today. It's great - classic Sparrow and so much fun on my new 29er. Must be a couple of years since Ive ridden at Sparrow and it is so awesome to have it back. Will be out again to do the 27k loop as soon as possible. Thanks HEAPS to everyone who has had a hand in getting these trails back in action.
Permalink Reply by Haconoko on April 15, 2012 at 13:00 Rode the Sparrow Hill 27k this morning at 0700. Great track, great condition and well marked !! No issues at all. Although heaps of cars were parked when we returned there were hardly riders on the tracks. Thanks for keeping the tracks so well !
