Ridden any Sparrow Hill trails today & want to let everyone else know how they're looking?  Let us know which track you were on, and what it's like today, here.

Rode the 27 km loop today (Sunday Jan 8). Lots of slippery corners but wonderful to see some more of the old stuff opened up again. Sparrow is awesome at the moment.

Spoke to Alan who was out doing maintenance. The next working bee is on Sunday 22nd. We should all try to be there - we are so lucky to have Alan and Paul, we need to show our appreciation by turning up en masse.

Sunday Jan 15

Sparrow 16 km loop is now marked.

So, now we have three loops to choose from - brilliant!

Its sweet as....and the new bits are cool too, couple of nice rocky bits, some logs and a few trails that get you right up close and personal with some fallen trees.....keep up the great work!

Did many people out for the track work on Sunday?  A few of us ran into Alan as he was doing some work out there a weekend or so ago and he mentioned it to us, and we had planned on going but just couldn't get oursleves organised.  hopefully another day comes up soon.  It's so good to have the old girl back.

I've been a few people out finishing their ride on the Creek Run, and I was wondering if anyone could point in the right direction to get on it.  I think I saw something going to the right just after the underpass on the way back to the gate; is this where it begins?

As I recall, there were about ten of us on Sunday and we managed to create 320 metres of brand new trail at Spiderweb.

To get to Creek Run simply turn right at the dam as you exit the underpass (keeping the dam on your right). As you head down the hill you will see the trail entry on your left just as you reach the bottom.

I rode the Sparrow 27km loop last week with a mate who has a bike computer and it only showed 20kms at the end of the loop. We were unsure if we took a shortcut somehow but the trail is so well marked we dont think we did. Besides that, the trails were in awesome condition and great fun to ride.

I'll check it out and see what I can fiddle with ... i suspect I'll need to fork out for a dedicated bike computer as KevJ suggested :)  thanks for the rapid replies guys :)

Hi Michelle,

More probably an issue with the phone - the GPS app will be recording data points at certain intervals. In amongst the tight sniggle this interval is probably not frequent enough so corners get cut off etc. The end result is that you get a shorter recorded distance than the actual distance travelled. Does the app let you set the data recording inteval? If so set it to as short an interval as you can, usually around 1 second.

how accurate are the marked lengths? I did the East Kowen 25 and the Sparrow 27 km but my iPhone app recorded it as a total of 45.6km rather than the expected 52kms.....

Nice social loop of Sparrow yesterday with a gang on a Berm ride..Very dry but the new sections are ace.  My fave trails in Canberra are back!!

Rode the Sparrow 16k loop today. It's great - classic Sparrow and so much fun on my new 29er. Must be a couple of years since Ive ridden at Sparrow and it is so awesome to have it back. Will be out again to do the 27k loop as soon as possible. Thanks HEAPS to everyone who has had a hand in getting these trails back in action.

Rode the Sparrow Hill 27k this morning at 0700. Great track, great condition and well marked !! No issues at all. Although heaps of cars were parked when we returned there were hardly riders on the tracks. Thanks for keeping the tracks so well !
