Alan & I completed & opened the 27 km loop at Sparrow yesterday (Tues 3 Jan) - its all marked & will be better after a few riders thrash around the place. In the next week or so I will mark an optional shorter 16 km loop for riders who dont want to ride the full loop. So we will have 6,16 & 27 km loops available. The harvest crew will be back at the end of summer to thin a few blocks - mainly on the East climb area - Waterside Way, Funhouse & Brownwater. We will uncover those tracks again after the work is completed. Before the thinning work starts in the east section I will open a west access to the top grid via the old Dunny Track, Zippetys & McGinty's Climb. By the end of this week I will have bypassed the problem boggy area at the dam overflow which we have all been slushing through - at the end of the long grassy dam track on the way home. We will soon be advertising a Sunday morning work session - probably Sunday 22 Jan (9 AM to 12:30 PM) to be confirmed - to uncover the old Spider Web track to tack into the long loop. Details will be posted on the BERM .

Let me know when and I will be there.

Rode out there this morning...it's looking and riding great! Like you say, needs some riders over it in places, but overall a great place to be on a gorgeous day like today :)

He (and Alan) generally do a pretty good job though don't they?!

Coming out of the new trails by the dam in the dark though was surprising. Weren't quite sure where to re-enter until we "Trek"ked ( and one Avanti'd) up the fire trail.
Yay for the trail fairies. Will be back tomorrow morning
LOL I'll remember that next time ;)
They do a fabulous job ...met Paul out there one day...he's a nice bloke to boot :)

Permalink Reply by Melissa Croaker on January 8, 2012 at 19:47 Thanks Paul, we came through early on the 3rd (group of 4 of us, 2 males, 2 females) and spoke to you for a bit seeing you beavering away at finishing the track. The 27k loop was fantastic :) Im still just a beginner and never rode Sparrows before and loved it and managed the whole loop without any incidents :)
Thanks for all your hard work on the trails, its really appreciated.
Im keen to come out on the next track work day and lend a hand (and secretely move some of the rocks out of the way which bugger me up :p)
