Logging to start shortly at Majura.

I've been told that logging will start at Majura as soon as they've finished with Sparrow Hill. At this stage it's likely to be the end of November. No word on what will be affected at this stage, but they'll be taking down Pines so it narrows the options somewhat.

Prepare yourselves for a bit of upheaval. Ben, retrieve thy shovel, there'll be some work to do lad!

I see that the AFP side of the road is in the process of being rapidly pruned - to earth level.  Anyone got any updates on time until the Madge as we know her passes into Canberra mountain biking history?

I'm hoping to get one last ride in before she's trashed!

The Big News!

Paul Cole met with a PC&L rep today who advised him that for the next 12 months or so, Majura Pines is NOT going to be thinned by forestry.

A stay of execution.  Yay!

Just thinned by the wild weather...noticed a couple of freshly fallen trees near the road as I drove along Maj Rd this morning.

Good news though Drew/Paul.  Nice one!

Was @ Majura on Saturday - very boggy on the lower sections, best to stay up higher and avoid the lower sections by only using fire roads for access/shuttling to other areas.

That's great news.

I've been reluctant to do anything but drain and clear trees over the past few months because I thought any more effort than that would be a waste of time, but now I think there are some long-needed repairs to be done and some bigger trees that need to be removed.

I'm willing to help out if there's a track day or something.

Brief update:

Logging still hasn't started yet.  Don't know when it's due to commence.

The A.C.T. didn't get any funds from the Commonwealth in the 2011 budget to contribute to the Majura Parkway redevelopment.  The A.C.T. can't fund it on its own so it looks like it will still be some time (years) before diggers move in..

Majura Parkway is going ahead. Check out this thread: http://www.theberm.com.au/forum/topics/majura-parkway?xg_source=act...
