The Berm

Canberra's Mountain Biking community network

Anyone been out to Tuggeranong pines lately?

I had an hour between kids netball games today and took the trance for a quick run up there.

I didn't get time to check it out properly, but it looks like people have put some work into the tracks there. some good flowing berms and also quite a few sets of double jumps if you're into that. I hit a couple on the trance but still feeling it out so didn't push the limits too much, have to say though the trance seemed to suit the tracks up there pretty well. i'm really loving the feel of the new trance, it feels like a good all round bike and even though i've only had a few rides on it so far it felt comfortable straight away and it only feels as though it is going to improve more and more as i get use to it.

Even though it's probably not the biggest set of tracks around it does seem worth a bit of blast if you're in the area, and since i'm probably only 5-10k's away i think i may have to get up there and explore it a bit more. Also keen to hear from anyone that may have a better knowledge of the tracks.

Haven't riden those trials for over a year and as far as I know CORC has been hoping to go back do stuff but just hasn't had the where with al - nice to hear someone's still looking after the place.

Whats the down hill trail looking like?
Bike Culture (in O'Connor) has a Monday night ride (on Monday's after the shop closes) that has gone to the Pines a few times this year. I've been 2 or 3 times with them.
We go up the fire trail and down a different track each time. Since I am usually on the hardtail SS I prefer the small jumps track down the fenceline that is fun even on that bike. Some have brought the heavy weaponry to take on the big stuff and made it look like good fun.
Lots of big rocks means you don't really want to crash there often.
Hmm, PC&L will have some issues with any trail beavers installing double jumps.

The trails team simply hasn'tt had the manpower to get down there to check on things...
I notice that the CORC Thusday night summer dirt crits are using Tugg's as a venue later in the season too :)

Anyone been out there recently? I heard that it suffered huge damage in those massive jan/feb storms.

I fair bit of it has been fixed up. Still plenty of trails to ride.

Anyone have any update on the current condition of the trails? See a few cars parked out there occasionally, but looks like mostly DH/AM riders. Is it worth the trip for general trail riding? I haven't been out there since around 2008.
