Hi fellow Berm Members,

Has anyone with big hands ever come across grips that a larger in circumference than normal?  After riding for a couple of hours I tend to get sore fingers, index down to little, mainly due to having to grip standard sized grips.

Would love to hear I can get some grips to help out with this issue.

you could do what the roadies do a go for the double bar tape. There are some mtn style clamp on bars that you can wrap in road tape. Put a couple of layers on or even put some anti vibration tape under it?

In a past life Nat I used to ride dirt bikes & we used to get thicker grips for those. They were great for the vibrations and the larger diameter meant that they were easier to grip. They were of a foam construction & I have never seen them in the pushbike world so maybe you could match a set from a motorcycle shop.
I was thinking about this but would probably need a few layers and this may risk the layers slipping on each other.  I will give it a go though with some cheap tape.  Thanks Milto!

Here is your solution :)

Ergon GP1 grips in Large.

They'll definitely be large enough!  It took me a couple of rides to get used to them but now I totally love them - hours and hours on the bike and my hands are fine (unlike everything else :) )

Thanks Steve!!

Thanks Steve, they look really good.

My wife's comfort bike (which gets borrowed by me for childcare runs ;) ) has grips of a similar shape but that aren't lock-on, which are very comfortable and spread the load across the heel of your hand nicely - until they rotate out of position.  Those lock on ones look like they would be great.

The ergon grips are great and will solve your problem. I have large hands and use the GS1's which give you plenty of finger dexterity, ability to alter your grip when required and are comfortable. Plus they never move. I vouch for them.

I just installed my new Ergon grips, arrived this morning.  I haven't had a big ride as yet with them but will go out tonight for a good 3 hours so hopefully they do the trick.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and comments.

How did you find them Nat?  It took me a surprisingly long time to get used to them.

I am just about to find out, some lunch and then i am heading over to Stromlo for a couple of laps I think.  The weather is looking interesting but hopefully it will hold out.  GREAT RIDING WEATHER!!

Brilliant grips Steve!!  managed only one lap at stromlo before the rain started to come in strong.  It was great only a few other riders out there and no one got in my way!!
