Does anyone have any suggestions for good (sensible) hills near the city do hill repeats?
Maybe im soft, but i just did two repeats up Black Mountain and it broke my spirit. I thought maybe Barry Drive hill might be better but its also a bit short.
Suggestions welcome - criticism also welcome if you think im soft.

Red Hill is only a few km away and, while short, effective.
Mt Pleasant can be used, but is a bit soft.
Ainslie also isn't hard to get to, but like Black Mountain skip the hard pitch (which in this case is the last one into the car park).

Permalink Reply by Christopher Giuliano on May 11, 2011 at 20:33 Mt Stromlo has no steep pitches on it and it is pretty much the same grade all the way, is long, so is good to keep the HR even for a while. Also, there is less traffic than all the others. Traffic is pretty much non-existent once the gates are closed at around six.
The cars on Ainslie can be alarming, I wouldn't do it at night, or at least not those last two corners, they are tight in a car and that means dangerous for us. There are always tourists driving up it, day and night. Even more than Black Mountain, I find.
I don't think you are soft - from the bottom to the tank is steep: by my fifth or sixth lap I have to drop down to the middle ring.
I wish!
