If anyone out there requires prescription glasses/sunglasses and cannot wear contacts anymore, check out Optilabs at http://www.optilabs.com/index.php. This is a UK company that sells sports glasses with or without a prescription with clear, tinted, transition (i.e. photochromic), and polarised lenses (in different colors). A colleague from the UK recommended them to me during his recent visit to Australia, and when I did some online research, they came highly recommended. After ordering 4 pairs of prescription glasses (3 for myself, 1 for hubby), I too highly recommend them for their product and customer service, but just allow 6-8 weeks between ordering and delivery. We ordered only single vision (photochromatic, ultradrivewear [transition and polarised], and dark tinted/polarised lenses) but they also do varifocal (which my colleague also successfully ordered from them). The Loubsol frames are excellent (we ordered sprint and velocity models). As far as lenses go, the ultradrivewear are good allround lenses that work well in variable light from quite bright sunlight to low light situations such as riding in the trees, but they do not go completely clear so would not work for night riding. The grey polarised sunglasses are great for sun sensitive eyes in very bright Australian conditions (even on the water). While the disadvantage with these is that you possibly require multiple glasses for different lighting conditions, the advantages they offer over frames with a prescription insert and multiple lenses is that you have a larger field of uninterupted vision, and only a single lense avoids issues with fog and rain caught between the precription insert and outside lense. Cheers, Shergall
