The Berm

Canberra's Mountain Biking community network

I felt the need to share a new battle scar with everyone.

I fell off my bike today, and landed on a pointy rock, which took a bit of a bite out of my left elbow. I am really quite proud of it.

After a quick visit to the local hospital (4 1/2hours later) I am now the proud new owner of 7 stitches.

Dean was so impressed, he couldn't wait to take a photo of it, so please enjoy.....

Feel free to add to the wall of Battle Scars.

Um.... Ouch!
Nice....best I can do is 4 stitches in the head, but that was before I even got on the bike :-(  Its a long story too!  Hope you're back on the bike soon....
We were only just discussing last week the need for such a topic on the berm after this occurred at Stromlo weekend before last. Taped fingers rode at Back Yamma, and survived.
Ow, did he have some salt ready to rub into it? That is the army's way of hardening you up.........

Ouch Rick, nice one!  I bet Laura was well impressed!!!

Morgo...may I suggest a new subsection for the damage we do to ourselves, called...The Wall of Pain!

J9er, is that your x-ray?  Well impressed that you taped up and completed Back Yamma!

Nah...not me, the hubby's finger Andy, he nearly didn't ride, but he's glad he did despite his reservations.

Bloody good effort to your hubby!

And great effort to you...5th in the female Masters!  Nice work :-)

Ah scars.. there good memory joggers, all those great rides....

Holy hell.. I was just thinking the other day that I've never been on a Berm ride where anyone has been "properly" injured. Nasty stuff Richard - and xray pics are always freaky!

well, unfortunately I forgot to take photos, but Sunday I managed to glide for about 10 meters somewhere coming down run 2 at Stromlo... I managed to fracture my wrist in 3 places and bruise my ribs and various other places on my body, and scrape marks all over the place...

I think I made things a lot worse by finishing the ride down - those corrugated berms really don't go well with a fractured wrist..

No riding for me for the next 6 weeks - sad

hopefully this will calm my riding stlye down though

Bugger mate, I hope it all heals well.

WOW!! That sounds nasty.

I think you might be in line for a 'Balls of Steel' award for finishing your ride!
