I've been wondering why lots of new people haven't got an avatar and have just found out why when one of the newer members raised an issue.
It's not possible to upload a Profile photo at the moment if you're using Google Chrome (and maybe others). When you get to a screen that says choose which bit of your photo you want to include, you can't do anything at it doesn't save.
Apparently it does work if you use Firefox as your web browser.
Also uploading photos into the photo section of the site isn't affected.
I've emailed Ning today to ask for a solution and will get it fixed asap.
Cheers.

Permalink Reply by Steve K on December 10, 2011 at 14:31 I found this out a few months ago and posted about it :) I found the problem occurred if using Opera, but when using Chrome it's OK. And IE and Netscape work too. Wierrrrrrd!
Permalink Reply by Snakehips on December 15, 2011 at 20:29 Update. It's something to do with some code on the site and Ning are working on a fix. I'll let you know as soon as I get a response.
Permalink Reply by Snakehips on January 11, 2012 at 20:43 Issue seems to be fixed!
The new Chat bar just added by Ning this seems to have fixed the conflict that caused you to be unable to add a photo to your profile.
You should now be able to add a visual identity to your profile.
Have checked in IE, Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari - all good.
Cool!
