***New date for Round 1 - Easter Monday, 1 April***
***Awaba MTB Park***
Race update, Friday 10am:
The race is postponed....again!
We are very sorry to inform you so late but we simply have no other option than to postpone the race again. Until yesterday the forecast looked like rain on Friday and showers on Saturday, but has changed significantly overnight to rain through until Sunday.
We want to give you a fun and safe race and in those conditions it won't be. We are as dissappointed as you are.
The new schedule looks as follows:
Round 1: Awaba, Easter Monday, April 1
Round 2: James Estate, April 20 (no change)
Round 3: Ourimbah, June 15 (as originally planned)
Rounds 4 and 5: no change
We would like to offer that all registrations will be automatically transferred to Round 1 but you can opt to change them to Round 2 only - please inform us via email if you want to do that: cycle@rockytrailentertainment.com
Thanks for your understanding, guys.
Race the MTB enduro series that rocks!
Race Australia's best mountain bike endurance riders and compete for four or seven hours. Race solo or in teams - the choice is yours! Experience a fantastic endurance race and that signature Rocky Trail event atmosphere.
Great for spectators to see the mountain bike racing action up close, the Shimano MTB GP is also hosting the official JetBlack NSW/ACT Bike Shop Trophy - customers and bike shop staff can ride for a designated bike shop and go into an additional ranking over the entire series. With kids races and music, the event centre will be pumping.

Comment by TROGDOR!! on April 3, 2013 at 19:29 You say you went soft but your lap times lie... they got better the more laps you did!
Great event, will be back for um anything any club ever puts on there :-)

Comment by Juliane Wisata on March 25, 2013 at 8:49 Hi -here a few camping alternatives for Awaba/Cooranbong (address of MTB park is Mount Faulk Road, Cooranbong, Freemans Drive Exit off F3):
Camping/caravan/cabins/cottages - http://www.lakemacquarievillage.com.au/index.php/home (15-20 min drive)
Nice retreat - http://www.wataganlodge.com.au (10-15 min drive)
Comment by Nigel Jefferys on March 25, 2013 at 8:18 Toilets yes......showers no, but baby wipes work wonders ;-) Not sure when entries close Roger....but if you were registered for the initial 1st round, you'll be in this one!
Comment by TROGDOR!! on March 18, 2013 at 16:22 Two questions: Are there toilets/showers onsite (I'm a crap camper!) and when do entries close?
Comment by Jamie Ingram on February 26, 2013 at 10:05 Excellent news! thanks Juliane :-)
Comment by Juliane Wisata on February 26, 2013 at 9:40 Last weekend's rain mayhem proofed our call to move the first round of SHIMANO MTB GP to be the right one. With more than 1.5m of rain on the Central Coast, Awaba will take more than a few days to recover with more showers forecast for Thursday.
However, Ourimbah can withstand rain much better and dries out quicker, because it is on a much steeper terrain and had more rocky/sandy sections. We've also seen how the track can cope with wet weather in the event lead up during our recent FLOW Rollercoaster event, so we'll run the race THIS Saturday at Ourimbah.
We are heading out there daily this week to check the track and fix things if required. Martin is out on track right now and we'll post updates asap. Thanks for your understanding.
Regarding the location:
Ourimbah MTB Park is about 5km from the Wyong exit on the F3 about an hour north of Sydney and 40 min south of the original Awaba venue.
Comment by Nigel Jefferys on February 26, 2013 at 8:45 Just seen that this has changed to Ourimbah......this weather isn't the best friend of a race organiser......but well done team.....early call and best of all we still get to race!
