Ride/Event Description

Scott 24hr Australian National Mountain Bike Champs
September 27 @ 12:00 pm - September 28 @ 12:00 pm

CORC is happy to announce that the Australian 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championships are on again for 2014.

With the changing nature and demand of 24 hour racing in Australia we are looking to reshape the event to keep pace with the desires of you, the competitors.

As always one of our greatest challenge is finding people to run the event. Availability of a few key people who are willing to put in the hard yards getting the race up and rolling has necessitated a date change to the weekend of 27/28 September.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Cheers!

It's probably very important to report these sorts of things to race management at the end of your current lap. Offending riders /teams take a deficit to their lap numbers surely. But they need to know they've been observed at the time also in the interests of other riders safety. Not always easy to see a race number but I guess can only try your best to do so.

I don't think the issue will be the technical nature of the track TBH. The 6+6 and team format has me a little concerned as a solo rider.  Today I got to experience something I would like to call a lot stronger than stupid on here from a team of 4 practising that almost ran me off the side of Skyline.

I wasn't going super fast as I was deliberately doing an easy lap, and was trying to pick a spot to let them pass, instead I was sworn at and shunted towards the side of the mountain...

I'm a fairly aggressive person to begin with, combine that behaviour with tiredness and cold at 2am and it's a recipe for disaster for more than just me.

good stuff Matt :)

It should make for a short lap with a higher average speed. There really isn't anything technical left in it now.

FYI's, course change - there's a new left-handed berm option near the bottom of the Luge, which spits you straight on to Slant Six. The course will do that now - i..e Blackberry Climb is out. (I think there will be more sighs of relief than tears :) )

Matt we will have a caravan and 4 marquees all alongside each other on the crit track. I don't think you'll miss us ;)

Typo  no lose situation doing 6x6... Stupid fat fingers

Comment by Matt Dyne on Friday

Of course...will have to find your tent first...and I assume you have a microwave (in case you're mid lap?)...and a genny?

Not sure about the no lost situation...don't really understand that sorry.

Matt - I like to call it the sensible man's race. It's a no lost situation with you...

On your return to Stromlo a large Flat White would be much appreciated!

In for the gentleman's 6+6. How dignified does that sound...6 hours, home, shower, bed, sleep, wake, shower, clean knicks, then another 6 hour ride!

There should be more of this action.

See youse all out there.

Particular kudos to the 24 Solo folks...will try and find you all and cheer you on.

Matt
