Ride/Event Description

Scott 24hr Australian National Mountain Bike Champs
September 27 @ 12:00 pm - September 28 @ 12:00 pm

CORC is happy to announce that the Australian 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championships are on again for 2014.

With the changing nature and demand of 24 hour racing in Australia we are looking to reshape the event to keep pace with the desires of you, the competitors.

As always one of our greatest challenge is finding people to run the event. Availability of a few key people who are willing to put in the hard yards getting the race up and rolling has necessitated a date change to the weekend of 27/28 September.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Cheers!

Latest email update!
"Hi Scott Riders,
Well, it has been a busy few weeks, but we're on track for a great Scott 24 Hour in just shy of four weeks time! We now have a solo category in the 6+6 event, for those feeling a little bit crazy, but not quite mad enough for the full 24 hours...

The Scott will be going ahead with the generous support of Scott Bikes, Toyota, GU, Rubena Australia, and Eastlake Football Club. We'll also have a great prize for the competitors draw, courtesy of Scott.

The course map will be up shortly. With the smaller numbers we have elected to move away from the red and blue lap system, instead extending the red lap with some of the more fun trails at Stromlo (think Blackberry Climb, Slant Six and Breakout).

As always, we'd love to see you out there, if you have some time to spare before during or after the event we'd love some help with the event. If you're happy to volunteer some time then please email volunteers@corc24hour.com.au and let Cameron know when you're free and what you are happy to help with.

The last great thing for this update is that the Scott will be using CORC's new timing system and your results will be available from the RaceResult website live! All you'll need is a smart phone, tablet or computer with internet access and your results can be yours as they happen! We'll tell you exactly where to find the Scott results as we get close to the race.

I'll be back in touch later in the week with the much anticipated course map...

Until then, entries close in two weeks, so go forth and enter!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Cheers!

Latest email update from the Event Director. Sounds like it'll be a friendly affair :)
[quote]Hi Scott Riders,
Over the last few weeks we have been working with our sponsors to look at the future of the Scott 24 Hour. Entries to date have been well below previous years and this has meant we've had to do some serious thinking about where the event is going. We're happy to say that the Scott will not be cancelled, but for 2014 we're taking the Scott back to its roots where it was smaller, more personal and club oriented.
The biggest difference for you, the participants will be the absence of the 'marquee city' on the crit track and the other extensive infrastructure around the event centre, fear not, there will still be food and coffee. And yes, we'll even furnish a TV with the AFL Grand Final, even if Collingwood are playing! The event itself will still hold the challenge of riding for a solid 24 hours, by yourself or with your mates, at its heart.
Our sponsors Scott, Toyota, GU, Jet Black, Rubena and Eastlake Football Club have all elected to continue their support for the event. The trails and facilities at Stromlo are still at your pleasure. This year's Scott will be smaller than most before, but that doesn't mean the Scott's 16th birthday will be any less fun and you're all invited!
Entries are still open, so if you can make it we look forward to seeing you at the end if September!
Thanks!

Just realised a clash with the Sri Chinmoy 101km Centenary Trail Run - which I am NOT racing, but have committed to supporting by bike a team that is racing it filled with family and extended family members, some coming from O/S. So... No Can Scott :(

I am keen to join a team of 4 or 6 if anyone is looking for another rider for their Scott 24 team...

Hahaha. You sound like the devil on my shoulder. I've got the necessary parts sitting ready to order on my computer :P

I think it's time to admit to myself that it's going to be a SS only stable for me.

SS XTC!! DO IT! You do need a back up bike for the race and you are racing SS right?!

Comment by Jeremy Guerin on July 17, 2014 at 21:30

At the WEMBO I just organised for early access and had the caravan right up behind our two marquees which were right at the entrance to the crit track. I just had to get out there early Friday morning and we couldn't leave until the race was done.

I think my XTC may have caught the same disease as my Voodoo... it's showing signs of ending up as a SS.

I should have the Pushys marquee and happy to co-locate.

Just FYI, previously caravans have been off in their own little caravan area, and couldn't really be co-located with tents I.e. Not in the solo area. Dunno how it will work this year though :)
