Ride/Event Description

Rocky Trail’s 100 km race is coming to Stromlo Forest Park!

We love riding and racing ourselves at Stromlo, so we mapped out the best and longest route possible. Climb up to the top and then it’s sweeping descents, tight switchback climbs, some sections to recover, fast downhills - everything a mountain biker’s heart could wish for!

Do 3 laps for the full 100 km distance, there are also 2 or 1 laps of the ~33km course on offer – you choose your own challenge!

  • 3 laps for the full 100 km distance
  • 2 laps for a 66 km race
  • 1 lap for a 33 km race

...and that's not all!

YOU asked for it, YOU got it! ***MTB Cruise 100 miler***

With regards to signage - it would be good next yr if they were all the nice bright yellow ones. A few out there looked like blank race number plates with a drawn on arrow which was a little hard to read at speed, or a marshall or two at areas like the luge.

I watched 3 people fly straight through the end of the luge rather than go left, and I must admit had I nearly went through too. The only thing that stopped me was the memory of the previous weekend when I did a practice lap with a map and trail names.

That being said, it isn't a big thing for me - I had a great time and will definitely sign up again next year.

I talked to Lance from Oz-Webs and as a result he is now selling his photos in digital form (he was only selling prints when he first started putting photos from this event up on his website)

$20 for all photos of you in low res (640x480, pick the virtual CD option) or

$10 per photo in hi-res (3888x2550ish, place the ones you want in lightbox then use the request a qoute option).

Enjoy :-)

What a day - so much cooler on Sunday when we cleaned everything up. Not a lot of gels/trash out there. Thanks for being so clean.

We spoke about how we can improve bunting on the way back to Sydney in the car and we found a solution: we will use the exact same track next year and now know where the sections are that caused confusion. There will be even more arrows, bunting, tape and signs to make it clear even if the tape gets ripped.

The signs were all there but I understand that in the heat of the battle they can be overlooked.

Other than that it was a really successful day for us and we always love coming down to Canberra.
